We started Unbiased in 2000, because we were uncomfortable with how product-focused the financial industry had become. We wanted to advise families, not sell them products. We did not realized how difficult it would be to excise ourselves from the standard industry model.
It has taken us years to accomplish what we think should be commonplace; for advisors to guide clients on what’s best for their family and to think beyond their investment portfolios.
However, without industry norms to rally against, our family-focused, net worth planning model would have never been developed.
